The Blue Strawberry in Leamington has provision for up to 71 children at any one time and cares for children between the ages of six weeks and five years.
It is a light and airy building with three floors, situated just opposite The Kingsley School where Blue Strawberry children attend assemblies and use the gym facilities twice a week.
Children are looked after in groups depending on their age range. Babies between six weeks and 14 months, toddlers between 14 months and 24 months, juniors between two and three years old and pre-school children between three and five years old are cared for together; this means that their days can be managed flexibly depending on the needs of that particular age group and the individual children within it.
A typical day…
There isn’t really such a thing as a ‘typical day’ at a Blue Strawberry nursery, except that learning and education is always underpinned by fun and games.
Outdoor play will depend on the weather but we encourage as much fresh air and physical activity as possible – this helps children to develop good physical growth, balance, co-ordination and independence.
There are always stimulating and fun curriculum activities taking place, as well as structured free choice play, singing, stories, music and movement. We also introduce our junior and pre-school children to computers and they can use software programmes that teach colour, shape and numbers.
Breakfast is at 8.45am, lunch is at 12pm and tea time is at 4.30pm. And of course, drinks and snacks are available regularly during the day, as well as sleep and relaxation time.
We provide the following childcare sessions:
- Mornings – 7.30am to 1pm
- Afternoons – 1.15pm to 6pm
- Full days – 7.30am to 6pm
- Shorter days – 8.30am to 4pm
There is also the option of childcare from 7am to 6.30pm if you need it.

Uniforms
We encourage pre-school children to wear a Blue Strawberry uniform. This helps to prepare them for school life and gives them a real sense of community. The uniform consists of a polo shirt for summer and a sweatshirt and fleece for winter worn with either a grey or navy blue skirt, trousers or shorts.
Girls wear navy blue tights in the winter and white socks in the summer. They can also wear red and white checked dresses in the summer if they prefer.
Pre-school children will also need a PE kit which consists of a white t-shirt, black shorts and black pumps.
All clothing is available to buy from the office.
